A Master Plan Update for Irvine’s 116-acre property in the Caves Valley. The plan provides a road map for future use and conservation activities on the property, including outlining an extensive existing and proposed trail system. New proposed trails and re-adjusted existing trails are laid out to showcase the different natural features of the property while minimizing impacts to existing wetlands, critical habitats, and other sensitive areas and features.
Future campsites are also noted on the plan along with other minor improvements such as composting toilets and a wetland boardwalk and wildlife blind. Future reforestation areas are designated in certain key locations order to enhance existing woodlands, protect existing wetlands, improve habitat for interior woodland species and migratory animals, and to provide visual buffers from buildings on neighboring properties.
In all, this Master Plan Update enables the current and future leaders of Irvine to make wise decisions on where to locate programs and activities in order to foster their environmental education mission while also protecting the property.
